Aston Villa star keen for club to bring loan hero back to Villa Park next season

Aston Villa’s midfield star John McGinn has called for the club to bring loaned in defender Tyrone Mings back to Villa Park next season.

Since joining on loan from Premier League side Bournemouth in the January transfer window, Tyrone Mings has been a star performer for Dean Smith’s Aston Villa side.

Mings is naturally a left-back, but he has come into the heart of defence during his with Villa, helping plug the gaps in Aston Villa’s leaky defence that left them in 10th place upon Ming’s arrival.

Since then, the Bournemouth man has played a valuable role in helping Villa to the Play-Off final. His form has seen him linked with a permanent move to Villa – depending on whether or not they win promotion to the Premier League.

Now, speaking to the Express and Star, Villa midfielder John McGinn has praised the impact of Mings since his arrival, calling for the club to bring him back to Villa Park if they secure a place in the Premier League.

“Tyrone has been different class since he joined in January. It took us ages to get him! He is a colossus at the back. I just don’t know how he does not get a game for Bournemouth.

“If we can keep hold of Ty in the Premier League, if we get there, it would be brilliant for the club.”

Reports have claimed in recent months that Mings is also on the radar of Premier League sides, with his strong performance reportedly catching the attention of Southampton.
