Norwich City enter the race for French youngster valued at €10 million

According to France Football, newly promoted Norwich City are interested in 20-year-old attacker Alexis Claude-Maurice – who currently plays for Ligue 1 side Lorient.

Lorient’s attacking midfielder Alexis Claude-Maurice is on the radar of Championship title winners Norwich City, France Football has claimed.

The young attacker has been in strong form for Lorient over the course of the 2018/19 season, impressing in the French second tier. Claude-Maurice played 31 games in Ligue 2, netting 14 goals and providing three assists while playing on the left-hand side and in behind the striker.

The Canaries are not the only side to be credited with interest in Claude-Maurice. French top tier side Lille OSC, La Liga outfit Real Sociedad and German side Eintracht Frankfurt are also reportedly interested in the 20-year-old. Any club wanting to buy the attacker will reportedly have to meet the French club’s €10 million valuation.

Claude-Maurice first broke into the first-team at Lorient upon their relegation to the French second tier. In the 2017/18 season, The youngster played 23 games, starting in six and scoring four goals. This season, the French youth international has nailed down a place in the club’s starting eleven and his performances have not gone unnoticed.

Claude-Maurice has featured for France at three different youth levels, representing the country’s Under-18s, Under-19s and Under-20s.

Norwich have done well bringing young players into the starting 11 upon the arrival of Daniel Farke, with Max Aarons, Ben Godfrey and Jamal Lewis playing important roles over the course of their promotion campaign.

That combined with Norwich City’s new Premier League finances could see them recruit some highly rated young talents this summer ahead of their return to the top flight.
