Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday alongside four other sides in pursuit of Coventry City star

According to Coventry Live, Coventry City could lose star man Jordan Willis on a free transfer, with a number of clubs from the Championship and League One reportedly interested.

Championship sides Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City and Bristol City are all interested in signing Coventry City defender Jordan Willis, Coventry Live has claimed.

Willis looks set to leave the club he has spent his entire career with this summer, as he looks to test himself in the Championship. A host of sides are looking at bringing him in on a free, including Championship quartet Derby, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull and Bristol City.

Recently promoted Luton Town are in pole position to secure Willis for next season, while League One side Portsmouth are also interested in the 24-year-old. However, they may struggle to beat Championship opposition for Willis’ signature, unless they are successful in their play-off campaign.

Coventry have been trying to tie Willis down to a new deal with the club, reportedly offering him a “tempting” deal to stay with the Sky Blues. However, the defender is ready to make the step up to the second tier.

Willis came through the youth academy with Coventry, working his way up the ranks before making his professional debut for the club in November 2011. Since then, he has gone on to play 208 times for the club, scoring eight goals along the way.

This season, Willis has been a mainstay in Mark Robins’ backline, playing 39 games in all competitions, helping Coventry to an eighth-place finish in their first season back in League One.
