Middlesbrough boss rumoured to take over Neil Warnock as Cardiff City manager

Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis’ current contract expires at the end of the season, and given the Teessiders have missed out on the play offs, the Welshman could be on his way out.

According to TalkSport journalist Ian “Moose” Abrahams, Middlesbrough boss Tony Pulis could be taking over Neil Warnock at Cardiff City next season.

The Boro manager has endured a difficult campaign, with fans calling for his head on more than one occasion this season. Banners and chants of ‘Pulis Out’ have been seen and heard on match days and it is looking increasingly likely he will depart.

Pulis could return to his native Wales with Cardiff possibly looking to part ways with current manager Neil Warnock, who, in doing so, would end his three year affinity with the club.

During this time Warnock has achieved promotion to the Premier League and ultimately suffered relegation last weekend at the hands of his former side Crystal Palace.

If Pulis was to leave the North-East, Boro will actively pursue a new manager, with the most likely candidate being Jonathan Woodgate, who is currently a first team coach at the club.

The former-Middlesbrough, Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid defender started in the illustrious academy system on Teesside before moving to Leeds United where he was given his debut. He has been in and around the first team both in a player and coaching role at Boro since he returned in 2012.

“I’ll speak to Steve (Gibson – Middlesbrough Chairman) about whether I’m going to be here or not” said Pulis in a recent interview, and talks look to be getting underway this week. Watch this space.
