Fleetwood Town striker signs new contract

Fleetwood Town’s Paddy Madden has signed a three-year contract with the club as confirmed by the official website.

The 29-year-old striker started his career at Bohemians and moved to England in 2011 for a poor spell with Carlisle United. He found his form while at Yeovil Town and would earn a move to Scunthorpe United where he spent four years being one of their top goal scorers. He would then sign for Fleetwood in January 2018 and has continued his form at Highbury. This season he has scored 19 goals in 49 appearances and is the 4th top scorer in Sky Bet League One.

And Madden will be staying at Fleetwood for a few more seasons after he signed a new deal with the Cod Army. This deal means that Madden will be staying with the Lancashire club until 2022, with the hope being he can keep his goalscoring exploits up for this time. This is good news for Fleetwood fans as it means they will not lose one of their top strikers, a risk considering how well he did this season.

Following this news, Fleetwood head coach Joey Barton said: “This is fantastic news for everyone associated with Fleetwood Town.”

“Paddy is a key part of our team and culture, and sets the tone in every match for how we want to play. His goals are an obvious asset to the team, but his work-rate and selflessness are for me what make him such a valuable member of our squad.”

“We’re delighted to have him with us for the next three seasons.”
