Chairman confirms Peterborough United have already completed four signings

Peterborough United chairman and co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has confirmed that the club already have deals completed for four players, adding that he hopes more can follow soon.

Peterborough United chairman and co-owner Darragh MacAnthony said on Twitter (see tweet below) on Saturday night that the club have completed the signing of four players ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Next up on Posh’s shopping list will be a new goalkeeper and a centre midfielder. This could hint at the departure of either of their current ‘keepers Aaron Chapman or Conor O’Malley.

A new man in midfield would seemingly compensate for the departure of loanee Kyle Dempsey and loaned out midfield Mark O’Hara, who is hoping to complete a permanent move to Lincoln City.

MacAnthony also confirmed the leagues that the incoming players will be coming from, albeit in accidental response to the wrong tweet.

MacAnthony eluded to revealing the names and clubs of the inbound players but went on to add that announcements will be made in good time.

With Darren Ferguson back at the helm, Posh are looking to return to their ways of buying “young and hungry players”, rather than spending big money on players’ wages – which they did in both the summer and January transfer window under previous manager Steve Evans.

The club are preparing for another season after they missed out on the final play-off spot on the final day. Posh did all they could with a 3-1 win over Burton Albion, but Doncaster Rovers’ 2-0 win over Coventry City meant that it was Grant McCann’s side who claimed 6th spot.
