Notts County fans react to relegation from the Football League

Notts County have slipped out of the Football League for the first time in their history.

The Magpies lost 3-1 away to Swindon Town at the County Ground today meaning they have been relegated to the non-league for the first time in 157 years.

They needed to win and hope Cambridge United beat Macclesfield Town at the Moss Rose to stay up.

Neal Ardley’s side may have thought things were going their way when Cambridge went 1-0 up against the Silkmen and they took the lead against Swindon courtesy of a penalty from Kane Hemmings early in the second-half.

However, events took a turn for the worst as far at Notts are concerned. Macc equalised through Elliott Durrell and Swindon fought back to win 3-1 through two goals from Theo Robinson and one from Kaiyne Woolery.

It has been a disastrous season for Notts County on and off the pitch. They are onto their third manager of the campaign following unsuccessful stints from Kevin Nolan and Harry Kewell.

They will now have to focus on returning to the Football League as soon as possible but it is easier said than done.

Here is how their fans have reacted on Twitter to their relegation-
