Joe Mattock thanks team mates for helping him improve his performances

Rotherham United’s Joe Mattock has told the club website that he owes his improved performances to the rest of his teammates.

The Millers are set to end their season on Sunday with a match against Middlesbrough and could spoil their season by preventing them to get into the Sky Bet Championship play-offs. But it has been a bittersweet one for Rotherham. They impressed many with their resolute performances, especially at home, but that was not enough as they were relegated last weekend after losing to Swansea City.

Mattock, who was part of the Rotherham team that were relegated in one of the worst Championship seasons of all time two years ago, has said that despite the overall result of the season, he was very pleased with the level of his performances. He even went as far to say that this was his best season ever though he added he wouldn’t have been able to do that without help from his teammates.

He said: “I’ve put everything into this season. I’ve dedicated this year to being my best year yet in my football career. I’d probably say I have done that, although it is hard to say that you have been successful in yourself when we have been relegated. On a personal front, I feel like I have managed to play every game as well as I can do. I have had more positive outcomes than negatives. I just want to keep that going.”

“I feel like the club, the manager, players and the staff have helped me achieve that massively. The lads here mean everything to me. I have some good friends here, so they have helped me. Games wise, I think it is the most I have ever played in one season, so I am pretty proud to have done that.”
