League Two boss “definitely” interested in move for Sheffield United winger

Carlisle United manager Steven Pressley has said that he would be definitely interested in a move for Sheffield United winger Nathan Thomas if he is allowed to leave the club at the end of the season.

Sheffield United winger Nathan Thomas has spent the 2018/19 season on loan away from Bramall Lane, playing for Notts County over the course of the first half of the season before joining Carlisle United on loan for the remainder of the season in the January transfer window.

Thomas has struggled to make an impact since joining Sheffield United in the summer of 2017 from Hartlepool United, spending most of his time on loan away from the club.  Now, with Blades confirming their return to the Premier League after a 12-year absence, he could be set for a permanent move away from the club in the upcoming transfer window.

Speaking to the News and Star, Carlisle United boss Steven Pressley has said that he would be interested in a summer move for loanee Thomas if the chance presented itself.

“Nathan’s got a contract that lasts another year with Sheffield, and I’m sure he’ll have discussions with them in the summer about his future and where it lies.

“I think he’s enjoyed his time here. I think I’ve got a good relationship with him. He’s a likeable boy and I think he’s a player that will definitely be of interest to us, there’s no doubt about it.

“Geographically we also suit Nathan – he’s a northern lad – and I think he’s enjoyed his time here.”
