Aston Villa move was turned down by La Liga contract rebel in January

According to a report from Spanish news outlet Galicia Press, Celta Vigo midfielder Nemanja Radoja turned down the chance to join Championship side Aston Villa in the January transfer window.

Reports from Spain have claimed that Celta Villa’s Serbian international midfielder Nemanja Radoja turned down a January transfer window move to join Dean Smith’s Aston Villa.

Radoja’s contract with the Spanish club expires at the end of the season and has been keen to seal a move away from the club in January. Aston Villa were among the sides eyeing up a possible move for Radoja on a cut-price deal. But, a move failed to materialise for the 26-year-old and Aston Villa and he remained with Celta Vigo until the end of the season.

Now, it has been reported that Radoja turned down the chance to join Aston Villa in the January transfer window, also rejecting a move to Italian Serie A side SPAL. But it seems that the Serbian will now get his desired move away from Vigo, with fellow La Liga side Real Betis the club he looks set to join on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Celta Vigo is one of only two clubs Radoja has played for throughout his career. He joined the club from Serbian outfit SK Vojvodina, where he came through the academy and went on to play 69 times. In his time with Celta Vigo, Radoja has made 146 appearances, collecting one goal and five assists along the way from defensive midfield.
