West Brom could have to battle Fulham if they want to sign loan star permanently

According to a report from the Newcastle Chronicle, recently relegated Fulham are eyeing up West Brom’s loaned in striker Dwight Gayle as a potential summer transfer target.

If West Brom want to make Dwight Gayle’s loan move permanent at the end of the season, they may have to battle Fulham, the Newcastle Chronicle has claimed.

Fulham recently had their relegation back down to the Championship confirmed and they are looking at rebuilding their squad. And, reports are claiming that they have identified Gyale as a potential striking option with Aleksandar Mitrovic being linked with a move away from Craven Cottage.

Gayle has been in impressive form for the Baggies over the course of the Championship season, earning his way into the hearts of West Brom supporters. He has netted 21 goals in 35 league games, collecting seven assists along the way as well. Speaking at the weekend, he said that he could see himself playing for West Borm again next season, saying:

“Yes, of course. I’ve really enjoyed the season and the fans have taken to me and shown great support.

“In the summer, I’m going to see what happens and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here.”

The striker’s future at St James’ Park is up in the air and it seems unlikely that he will remain at the club if Magpies boss Rafael Benitez pens a new deal. But, he won’t be willing to let him leave on the cheap. He will be looking to raise funds where possible as he looks to make a permanent move for Salomon Rondon – who is on loan from West Brom.
