PSG look to three Championship clubs as buy-in options

According to the Mail Online’s Luke Augustus, the owners of world football greats Paris Saint-Germain are casting their eyes towards the Sky Bet Championship as they look to widen their portfolio.

Qatari Sports Investments have turned PSG into something of a force in football since their arrival in the French capital in 2011. Players such as Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe have arrived and PSG look likely to secure their sixth Ligue 1 title since QSI’s investment.

Reports in France, picked up by English media, say that their sights are now turning towards England, and English football’s second-tier competition. More specifically, that focus is on three Sky Bet Championship sides: Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers.

Much had been expected of Forest, the Reds splashing out around £13m on Benfica midfielder Joao Carvalho. However, that outlay hasn’t been justified and Forest are stuck in mid-table.

QPR are facing struggles of a different kind as they sit in 18th place at the moment, albeit it eight points from the relegation zone. Managerless, they hammered Swansea 4-0 yesterday to register their first win in six games.

Villa are the only one of the trio of sides mentioned as interesting the PSG owners who have a chance of a shot at promotion to the Premier League. They currently sit in 5th place and on a run of SIX consecutive victories, topped off yesterday by a 2-1 win over rivals Bristol City.

Should this story have legs, then it will make for an interesting summer for fans of the aforementioned three clubs.
