Derby County target holds talks at Pride Park over possible summer transfer

According to the Derby Telegraph, Aberdeen midfielder Graeme Shinnie has visited Pride Park and held talks with Derby County over a possible summer move.

Derby County have held talks with Scottish midfielder Graeme Shinnie over a possible move to the club on a free transfer at the end of the season, the Derby Telegraph has claimed.

Shinnie made a visit to Pride Park on Thursday, where he was shown around the stadium and held talks with the club. The Scot is out of contract at Aberdeen at the end of the season and is allowed to talk to clubs over a possible move away.

A host of English and Scottish sides have been credited with interest in the Aberdeen man. Championship sides Sheffield United, Bristol City and Wigan are reportedly keen, while Scottish Premiership pair Rangers and Hearts are also in the running.

The 27-year-old has been a mainstay in the Aberdeen lineup since joining from Inverness C.T in 2015. Playing at both left-back and defensive midfield, Shinnie has conjured up 185 appearances for Aberdeen, collecting 12 goals and 24 assists along the way.

Prior to his time with Aberdeen, Shinnie played 187 games for Inverness, where he made his breakthrough into professional football.

A move away from Scotland would be the first time Shinnie has played outside his country of birth, but he is highly rated North of the border. His experience in Scotland and versatility could prove valuable for Frank Lampard’s Derby County side as the former Chelsea midfielder looks to bring in some new faces this summer.
