Bristol City identify Arsenal, Middlesbrough and Aston Villa strikers as top targets

According to The Bristol Post, Bristol City are looking at bringing in seven new players regardless if they achieve promotion or not.

The report suggests Bristol City will make a move for Middlesbrough and Aston Villa strikers Britt Assombalonga and Scott Hogan at the end of the season, despite not knowing which division they will be playing in in August.

Along with the Championship duo of Hogan and Assombalonga, Bristol City have also identified young Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah as a potential target. The 19-year old broke into the first-team at the Emirates last season, and has played 15 first-team games in all competitions for the Gunners over the past two years.

The Robins have scored the third-lowest amount of goals in the top half of the table, ahead of Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough respectively. City currently have Famara Diedhiou and Andreas Weimann as first choice forwards, but would be looking to bolster their options up front next season.

Speaking last season in an interview on the club’s official site, CEO Mark Ashton spoke of possible deals in the future.

“We’d be prepared as we possibly can be. We have a set process of identifying talent and that doesn’t change,” he said.

“The Championship plan is very detailed. For another division it would be very difficult to execute because the timing is tight,” he added.

The forward line isn’t the only area City are looking to improve however, with The Bristol Post reporting a new goalkeeper, a midfielder and permanent deals for loanees Jay Da Silva and Tomas Kalas could all be in the pipeline this summer.
