West Brom’s loaned in duo may still have future with parent club

Newcastle United manager Rafel Benitez has refused to accept that West Brom’s loaned in duo Jacob Murphy and Dwight Gayle do not have futures at St James’ Park.

West Brom loan pair Jacob Murphy and Dwight Gayle may still have futures at their parent club, Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has said.

After falling out of favour at St James’ Park, Jacob Murphy joined West Brom on loan for the rest of the season on transfer deadline day. The winger struggled in the Premier League and since leaving on loan, fans have wondered whether he has a future with Newcastle.

But, speaking to Chronicle Live, Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has said that they will consider his future in the summer.

“He needed to play, obviously young players need to play and get experience. And it was difficult for him here. Bringing in Miguel Almiron was even more difficult. We spoke about that.

“He is a nice lad and a good professional so hopefully he can do well and then we will consider his future.”

Dwight Gayle was sent on loan to West Brom at the start of the season as part of a swap deal between the two clubs, with Salomon Rondon going the other way. Now, with both Rondon and Benitez keen for the Venezuelan to make a permanent move to Newcastle, questions have been raised regarding Gayle’s future.

But, Benitez has refused to close the door on Gayle’s future with the Premier League side, saying:

“Dwight is doing really well.

“It’s good when players are doing well for their teams and you have to consider them for the future. OK, you never know what can happen but it’s good when they are doing well and enjoying themselves.”

Neither of the two loan deals have an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season and it is unknown whether West Brom will look to sign them in the summer.
