Birmingham City striker has held talks with Steven Gerrard ahead of a potential move to Rangers

Birmingham City striker Greg Stewart has held talks with Steven Gerrard ahead of a potential move to Rangers, according to Daily Record.

Birmingham City striker Greg Stewart, currently on loan at Aberdeen,  has held talks with Steven Gerrard ahead of a potential move to Rangers.

Rangers have sparked their interest in Greg Stewart after Rangers pulled out of a potential move for Motherwell winger Jake Hastie.

They had wanted to sign Jake Hastie but Rangers was no longer prepared to wait on the winger with Derby, Middlesbrough, Hull, Millwall and Portsmouth also keen to sign him.

And now Rangers’ director of football Mark Allen now wants to bring Greg Stewart to the club.

Greg Stewart has impressed on his loan spell at Aberdeen and Derek McInnes has been trying to sign him on a permanent deal since January as he told BBC Sport: “If there was a chance to keep Greg then I would be doing my best to keep him.”

“We felt in January, speaking to him and his agent, that they wanted to look at options.”

The attacker will become a free agent in the summer, and his current boss Derek McInnes believes the quality of his performances for Aberdeen explain why other clubs are eyeing up a move for him.

“It’s no surprise his agent has been speaking to clubs, there’s a lot of clubs that would recognise Greg’s talent”

“When you saw him come on the other night [against Motherwell] he helped game go our way with his quality.”
