Peterborough United co-owner reveals ambitious 10-year Premier League plan

Peterborough United co-owner Jason Neale has told the Peterborough Telegraph that the club have an optimistic plan to reach the Premier League over the next 10 years.

Peterborough United’s co-owners have been formulating a 10-year plan to reach the Premier League, Jason Neale has revealed.

Fellow co-owner and club chairman Darragh MacAnthony has made no secret over the past few weeks that the club have been building a long-term plan after the sacking of Steve Evans in January.

Posh are looking to return to their ways of buying “young and hungry” players and turning them into quality footballers. The club are also keen to make progress with their youth academy, as they look to bring more academy players into their first-team plans over the course of the next few years – a plan led by Jason Neale.

Now, speaking to the Peterborough Telegraph, Neale has said that although they know it is a highly ambitious plan, they are looking to emulate sides like Bournemouth and Burnley in climbing up the football league ladder.

“The owners have been working on a 10-year plan which involves the club reaching the Premier League,” Neale said.

“If we can build the fanbase and also generate plenty of secondary income that isn’t reliant on how the team is doing it can be done. There are several teams in the current Premier League who are not historically top-flight regulars and the perfect models for us are Bournemouth and Burnley.

“It’s an ambitious plan, but why not aim high? Darragh is enthusiastic and one benefit of the plan is it means he is not likely to be going anywhere soon!”
