Leeds United starlet joins first-team training after impressing since January move

Lukasz Maciongowski, the agent of Leeds United’s Polish youngster Mateusz Bogusz, has revealed that the 17-year-old has joined first-team training after being invited by manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds United’s January arrival Mateusz Bogusz has been training with the first-team, his agent has revealed in an interview with Polish news outlet Sport.

The youngster has been putting in some impressive performances for Leeds United’s Under-23s since his arrival from Polish side Ruch Chorzow. The 17-year-old made the move to England during the January transfer window and he is making strong progress with the Championship side.

Bogusz put in an impressive performance on Monday night as Leeds’ Under-23s won 4-0 against Charlton Athletic, netting the fourth goal in a comprehensive win. His continued form hasn’t gone unnoticed, with Leeds surprised by his rapid development.

The midfielder’s form has earned himself a place in first-team training sessions, his agent Maciongowski has revealed.

“Leeds are very pleased with Mateusz,” Maciongowski told Sport.

The club’s representatives were surprised that in such a short time he was able to adapt to the pace of the game that prevails in England.

“With every week you can see progress, Mateusz is getting to know the club’s expectations more and more about his role on the pitch.”

The player’s agent went on to add that Bogusz’s invitation to first-team training has come as no surprise to his representatives, given his exciting talent.

“We were not surprised, because Leeds knew Mateusz very well. He was observed for a long time by the Leeds scouts. The first team manager also had access to a video of Mateusz’s performances and said he would be very pleased if he could get him from Chorzów.

“Leeds knew what level Mateusz presented, and we also knew that they valued his skills, so the invitation to the first team training was only a matter of time.”
