Leeds legend Eddie Gray chooses the team he’d like to avoid if the Whites drop into the Play Offs

Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has had his say on which side he’d want to avoid in the Play Offs, if the Whites have to earn promotion via Wembley.

With Leeds just two points ahead of Sheffield United in third, the race for automatic promotion looks to be between these two and Norwich City, with the gap to fourth being seven points.

West Brom, Middlesbrough and Derby County currently occupy the rest of the top six, and Leeds legend Eddie Gray thinks Tony Pulis’ Boro side should be the ones to avoid.

Speaking to LUTV, Gray said “We got a decent result at Middlesbrough, they are always tough to beat.

“When we are talking about teams in the top six and if you had to get into the playoffs, they are one of the sides I don’t think I’d like to play against because they don’t concede many goals.

“That’s a big problem. They don’t score a lot as well, but they don’t concede.”

Middlesbrough and Leeds have played out two draws this season, drawing 0-0 at Elland Road in August before a dramatic 1-1 draw at The Riverside in February.

Eddie Gray was a pivotal member of the hugely successful Leeds United sides of the 1960s and 70s, and has also managed the club on two occasions between 1982-1985 and later adopting the role of Caretaker Manager in the 2003-2004 campaign.

He was voted as the third greatest Leeds player of all time in 2000, and was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
