According to a report from Football Insider, Aston Villa are considering a £5 million move for Queens Park Rangers star man Toni Leistner this summer.
Aston Villa are lining up a £5 million move for QPR defender Toni Leistner, a report from Football Insider writes.
Toni Leistner has been a massive hit at Loftus Road since his arrival during the summer transfer window prior to the start of the season and his strong performances have caught the eye of fellow Championship side Aston Villa.
Dean Smith’s side have struggled massively at the back throughout this season, currently boasting the worst defensive record in the top half of the Championship. With that in mind, he is looking to plug their leaky defence this summer and he has reportedly identified Leistner as a potential option.
So far this season, the German has played 36 games in all competitions, picking up two goals and an assist along the way as well. Upon his arrival, he was made skipper of the club and he has gone on to prove that it was a good decision.
It is not only Aston Villa who are reportedly considering a summer move for the 28-year-old, however. Premier League side Cardiff City have also been credited with interest in Leistner and they could make a move regardless of whether they maintain their Premier League status or not.
QPR boss Steve McClaren will be hoping that they can keep hold of Leistner this summer, but with clubs seemingly queuing up to try and secure his services, they are set to face a battle to keep him at Loftus Road.
