Hull City fans react as Tigers buzzed by Bees

Hull City were a team in mixed form ahead of today’s game against a resurgent Brentford, who’d won four of their last five games, scoring a hatful of goals.

That continued today as Hull City were swept aside under an avalanche of goals as Brentford ran out 5-1 winners at Griffin Park.

It was Hull City who took the lead through Frazier Campbell (24′), the assist coming from Kamil Grosicki. That opener was cancelled out almost at once with Kamohelo Mokojoto (28′) replying almost instantly.

Five minutes later Said Benrahama (33′) scored the first of a quick-fire brace, adding the second (43′) just before half-time. The 3-1 scoreline, at the half, underlined Brentford’s incisive attacking threat, leaving the Tigers chasing the game.

That chasing was made forlorn early in the second-half, leading scorer Neal Maupay (52′) making it four for the home side. The game effectively needing a monumental Hull comeback meant the East Yorkshire side were chasing shadows for much of the second period.

As the game limped towards its end, there was still time for more Brentford fizz. It was that man Benrahma who completed his hat-trick (81′) with a well taken goal from a Romaine Sawyers assist.

It was a result, a drubbing really, that won’t have done anything for the confidence of Hull City as they head towards their next game. It was also a result that wouldn’t have gone down too well with some of their fans.

Here’s what some Hull City fans have said in reflection of the 5-1 loss on their travels to London against a rampant Brentford side.
