Defender who nearly joined Aston Villa now on the radar of Italian giants

Le Havre defender Harold Moukoudi has been on the radar of Championship side Aston Villa for the past two transfer windows. Now, it is being reported that the centre-back is on the radar of Italian giants Napoli.

In the summer transfer window, it was reported that Le Havre defender Harold Moukoudi flew to Birmingham as a proposed move to Aston Villa neared, with a fee agreed at £7 million. However, he opted to stay in France.

In January, it was reported once again that Aston Villa had maintained their interest in the defender, joining a host of sides from all over Europe to be considering a move for the Frenchman.

However, it seems that they will have to be up against some stiff competition if they want to continue their pursuit of him in the coming transfer window. According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Birmingham Live), Italian side Napoli are now considering a summer move for the defender, as they line up a replacement for 33-year-old Spaniard Raul Albiol.

It is unknown whether Villa will continue their interest in the defender into a third transfer window, but with such staunch opposition, they would have to provide a seriously impressive offer to lure him to Villa Park.

The Bondy-born defender made his way into the Le Havre side after playing for a wide selection of youth academies in the early stages of his career. Moukoudi has already played for Le Havre on 63 occasions at just 21-years-old. He made his professional debut back in October 2016, aged just 16.
