Birmingham City interested in Hearts duo amid contract uncertainty

Championship side Birmingham City are interested in attacker Steven Naismith and centre midfielder Arnaud Djoum, who are both currently playing in the Scottish Premiership with Hearts.

According to the Edinburgh News, Hearts duo Steven Naismith and Arnaud Djoum are on the radar of Championship side Birmingham City.

Financial restraints mean that Birmingham boss Garry Monk has no choice but to delve into the free agents market if he wants to bring in new faces. And, with Naismith and Djoum’s current contracts up at the end of the 2018/19 season, Monk is reportedly considering a move for the duo.

The Hearts pair are open to talk to other clubs about a possible move at the end of the season, and it is understood that they are weighing up their options. Hearts boss Craig Levein has said that despite both players being happy at the club, they are yet to accept contract offers as they look to keep their options open.

Naismith is currently the club’s top scorer of the season. The former Everton forward has popped up with an impressive 13 goals in all competitions, including nine in 16 league games despite spending over a month on the sidelines with cartilage damage.

Djoum missed the first three games of the season through injury but has been a mainstay in the side since his return to fitness. The 29-year-old has 25 times in all competitions, popping up with three goals and two assists as well.

The Jam Tarts currently sit in 5th place in the Scottish Premiership table, three points behind Aberdeen in the final European spot.
