Leeds United announce much talked about midfielder capture

It was only a matter of time, but Leeds United have finally announced the capture of young Polish midfielder Mateusz Bogusz.

It was an announcement that had its initial footings over month away when rumours began to circulate that the Whites were interested.

The pace of these rumours began to pick up as more concrete links came to the fore. Soon social media was awash with news of impending arrivals, possible hitches and potential deals.

Yet, this is all that matters – below.

Leeds United bringing in Bogusz is definitely a deal to file under a ‘one for the future’ heading.

The Poland youth international, who recently moved into the Under-20 set-up, played for Ruch Chorzow before arriving at Elland Road. Tey are a side who play in the 2 Liga competition – Poland’s third tier.

Bogusz featured in 19 games this season, scoring five times and providing one assist. Last season, as a 16-year-old, he was blooded by Ruch Chorzow in the 1 Liga – Poland’s second-tier competition. That season, which ended in relegation, he featured in 13 games.

Bogusz will be signed ostensibly to feature for the age groups at Elland Road. He’s likely to feature for the Under-18s, who are currently topping their league.

However, progression is one thing that seems par for the course, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him fast-tracked to the Under-23s who also top their league.

His arrival at Elland Road completes United’s second signing of this January window after the earlier arrival of keeper Kiko Casilla from Real Madrid. The Whites are looking to bring in one more signing, fans hanging on the edge of their seats for the hopefully soon arrival of Dan James from Swansea.
