Sheffield United want to sign Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan on loan, according to Sky Sports.
The 26-year-old has made just six appearances for Villa so far this season and is set to leave the club on loan before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Sheffield United are in the hunt for another signing to help bolster their promotion push and could bring Hogan to Bramall Lane. He was linked with a move to South Yorkshire over the summer.
Hogan joined Aston Villa in January 2017 from Brentford for a fee of around £9 million, potentially rising to £12 million, having previously scored 21 goals in 36 games for the Bees. However, he has managed 10 goals in 60 games for Villa.
The Blades will be hoping he can rekindle the form he had at Brentford if he does make the move to join them before Thursday. Their fellow Championship side Bristol City are also believed to be keen on him.
Hogan started his career in non-league and worked his way up the football pyramid. He had spells with Woodley Sports, FC Halifax Town, Mossley, Stocksbridge Park Steels, Ashton United and Hyde before he was snapped up by Rochdale in 2013.
He spent a season with in League Two and scored 19 goals for them in all competitions. This earned him a move to Brentford in July 2014 for a fee of around £750,000.
Sheffield United have so far signed Gary Madine and Kieran Dowell from Cardiff City and Everton respectively this month. Could Hogan join them at Bramall Lane?
