Nottingham Forest no bom Dias as loan player exits

In news coming in from various sources, and as confirmed by the following tweet from Nottingham Forest, Monaco loanee Gil Dias has left the club.

Dias’ departure from the City Ground, heading out to Greek side Olympiacos, means that his foray into English football from Monaco is now at an end. It is an end after 21 Sky Bet Championship games, 21 games where he failed to register a goal, or even an assist.

Much was expected of the talented young right-winger, a starlet with 34 Liga NOS games under his belt, these coming with Rio Ave. He was at the Portuguese club on loan from current parent club Monaco. The French Ligue 1 side brought in the 10-cap Portugal Under-21 international from SC Braga’s B side for £4.5m in 2015.

Gil Dias’ departure from the Sky Bet Championship, for the Greek Super League, sees him leave a Nottingham Forest side in a mid-table 12th place. Next up for Forest is a home game on Saturday against Wigan Athletic. If other games go their way, a win and three points against the struggling Latics could move the Reds up to 8th in the table.

Forest were on many people’s lists as possible promotion challengers after the arrival of the likes of Lewis Grabban, Tobias Figueiredo and Joao Carvalho. However, like the departure of Gil Dias, that notion looks long gone.
