Leeds United in talks for priority target – fee to be agreed

It isn’t a secret, far from it, that Leeds United are actively looking to bring Swansea flyer Daniel James to Elland Road. Now Mirror reporter David Anderson (below) confirms the Whites are in talks with Swansea City over a deal.

Leeds United are a side renowned to be miserly to the point of stingy in the January transfer window. To that end, Whites fans have become accustomed to little business being completed. Yet, with the injury crisis in LS11 showing little sign of abating, any fans were expecting some movement.

However, that movement has been limited to bringing in Real Madrid stopper Kiko Casilla, a fantastic signing for the Whites from Los Blancos. After one game acclimatising in the Under-23s, Casilla is making his debut in the Sky Bet Championship against Rotherham at the weekend.

However, the Whites are also looking to add to the ranks, David Anderson saying they are in talks with Swansea City over a deal for Daniel James.

This confirmation from Anderson follows the gist of what Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay has been pushing the last couple of days – that Marcelo Bielsa is interested in 21-year-old Welsh international James.

The youngster, who started out on his football journey at Hull City, has impressed during his time in the Swansea side this term. In his 17 Sky Bet Championship appearances this season, the left-sided flyer has netted once and added four assists. Aside from that, his lightning pace has frightened many a defender.

In another tweet, Anderson says that “Bielsa really likes James,” this missive echoing the sentiments of the YEP’s Phil Hay. He also goes on to say that bringing in James will be the only business that Leeds will undertake this transfer window.

With just a week of the January window left, two incomings of the quality that Kiko Casilla and Daniel James are would be business enough for Whites fans to feel satisfied with.
