Leeds United set to submit bid for target – suggests valuation agreed

According to Alan Nixon on Twitter (below), and supported by the Sporting Life’s Tom Carnduff, Leeds United look set to bid for reported target Daniel James.

Earlier this week, an article in The Sun said that United are willing to meet Swansea City’s valuation of their young wing star Daniel James. The thinking behind this was that Leeds felt that James could add a cutting edge to the Whites promotion push.

21-year-old James, who started his football education at Hull City, has progressed through the youth ranks at the South Wales club, becoming a mainstay of their Championship side this season.

He’s featured in 16 games for the Swans in the second tier during the current campaign. During these appearances, James has scored one goal and assisted four others – his lightning pace evident for all to see.

Leeds United were a little flat in yesterday’s 2-1 defeat against Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium. Despite hogging possession, the Whites lacked any degree of incisiveness, unable to make any meaningful possession count in the final third.

Incisiveness is something that bringing in James would give them, the Swansea man possessing the kind of pace that allows him to ghost past opponents with ease.

The buzz across social media is that James is the sort of player who could slot into Marcelo Bielsa’s squad at Elland Road and really add to the threat they pose going forward this season.

If Nixon’s tweet does have legs, and does come to bear, then that threat might be seen swapping one white shirt for another in the coming days.
