Chelsea join Manchester United in pursuit of highly rated Bristol City youngster

Premier League side Chelsea are interested in Bristol City youngster Antoine Semenyo, who has also caught the eyes of Manchester United while on loan with League Two side Newport County.

According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are set to rival fellow Premier League giants Manchester United for the signature of Bristol City’s promising attacker Antoine Semenyo.

Earlier this season, Bristol City’s player loan manager Brian Tinnion revealed that Manchester United had watched the youngster. Tinnion spoke to Bristol Live regarding the interest, admitting that The Red Devils are interested in the young striker.

“I was sat with a Man United scout at Newport the other week, to be honest, and they really like him,” Tinnion said. People will like him because he’s 18 years of age.”

Now, it seems that fellow Premier League side Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Semenyo. They are reportedly ready to make an offer for the Newport County loanee. The Robins are demanding £2 million for the young striker if anyone wants to take him off their hands.

The London-born forward joined Bristol City last year and is being tipped for a big future by the Championship side. They handed him his senior debut on the final day of last season in their Championship fixture against Sheffield United in which they lost 3-2.

Semenyo spent time on loan in non-league in the last campaign with Bath City and scored six goals in nine games for the National League South side. Bristol City then opted to loan him out again for this season for him to get more of a taste of senior football as opposed to playing youth football.

He has done well so far in the fourth tier with Newport County and has been a hit with their fans.
