Macclesfield Town came back from the worst possible start to beat Oldham Athletic at Moss Rose.
Pete Wild’s starting eleven consisted of Iversen, Hamer, Clarke ©, Edmundson, Nepomuceno, Lang, Sylla, Missilou, Branger-Engone, Maouche, Vera.
Latics started the game bright as Callum Lang was running through on goal before his shot was blocked by the hand of Miles Welch-Hayes in the first minute of the game and referee Ollie Yates pointed to the spot.
On his debut, Urko Vera stepped up and hit the penalty down the middle with Kieran O’Hara getting a touch with his foot, before the ball hit the bar and crossing the line (0-1).
It was all downhill for Latics for here, Macclesfield Town came close to equalising from a mistake by Peter Clarke when his backpass was intercepted by Harry Smith, but Latics goalkeeper Daniel Iversen made a well-timed tackle to stop the striker.
Just before half-time, Harry Smith hit a weak shot on the edge of the box and somehow the ball rolled under Daniel Iversen to make the score level (1-1).
Half-Time – Macclesfield Town 1-1 Oldham Athletic.
Macclesfield Town found what turned out to be the winner early in the second half as Scott Wilson got in between defender Peter Clarke and goalkeeper Daniel Iversen and chipped it into the net (2-1).
Latics came close to an equaliser in the 89th minute as Gevaro Nepomuceno smashed the crossbar with a freekick.
Mohammed Maouche was sent off in the 90th minute for bringing down Tyrone Marsh, as he was judged to be the last man bur there was a Latics players further back.

Perhaps the most #oafc thing possible to turn Fulham over then lose at cloggers like Macclesfield. Nowhere near good enough today.

Still 5 off the play offs but it doesn’t matter. We’ll finish where we are about now. 12th, 11th 10th something like that. Not enough quality to get top 7 without someone like Surridge #oafc

Easily the worst performance I’ve seen in a long time. Not one good performance #oafc

Rubbish that. Absolutely dreadful. Big job for anybody taking this on. Fortunately only 5 points still from playoffs but big ask now, massive ask #oafc

Ffs. Got to be winning these if play offs is a possibility.
Wild has done a great job all things considered but Abdallah really needs to pull his finger out and appoint a proper manager. Criminal how long it’s taken. #oafc https://t.co/wbG2fXtv69
