Birmingham City are closing in on the signing of midfielder Kerim Mrabti, as per a report by Sport Witness.
The 24-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving Swedish side Djurgårdens IF at the end of their season.
Mrabti is believed to be in Englnd now concluding his deal to join Birmingham. This is a big boost for Gary Monk’s side and he will give them another option in midfield.
He is a Sweden international with three caps to his name and also represented his country as a youngster at Under-19 and Under-21 level.
Mrabti started his career at Enköpings SK and broke into their first-team as a youngster. He was then snapped up by third tier side IK Sirius in 2013 and helped them gain promotion to the Superettan in his first campaign at the club.
Djurgårdens, the club Mrabti supported as a boy, moved to sign him in 2015. He quickly became a key player for them and played 77 times, scoring 18 goals. He won the Allsvenkan Newcomer of the Year award in his first season.
Mrabti then played a big role in their Svenska Cupen win in May and scored in the final against Malmö FF.
Birmingham fans may not know a lot about him but his career to date in Sweden has been impressive. The Blues haven’t signed anyone yet this month so their fans will be pleased to see a signing come through the door at St Andrews.
