Nottingham Forest turn down loan enquiry from rivals for highly rated midfielder

League Two strugglers Notts County have had a loan enquiry for Nottingham Forest midfielder Jorge Grant turned down, the club’s chairman Alan Hardy has revealed.

Nottingham Forest playmaker Jorge Grant is highly regarded on the other side of the River Trent at League Two side Notts County. The playmaker was a massive part of The Magpies’ side last season, working his way into the hearts of County fans.

With Notts County struggling at the foot of the football league, they are looking to bring in some new faces this January to boost their survival hopes. One man they looked to bring to Meadow Lane was former loan hero Grant.

However, chairman Alan Hardy has revealed that the midfielder is set for another loan move to League One after returning from Luton Town this January. He said on Twitter:

It was worth an enquiry for the League Two side. Sitting in 24th place, they are in dire need of some inspiration for the second half of the season. Sadly, it won’t be coming from Grant.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed two thoroughly successful spells with Notts County. He first joined for the second half of the 2016/17 season, scoring six goals and assisting three in 17 appearances.

Grant returned to Meadow Lane again the next season and played a pivotal role in their promotion push. He played in all but one League Two game as The Magpies finished in the Play-Offs. The playmaker scored 19 goals in 56 games in all competitions, proving himself as one of the best players in the league that season.

His form earned him a loan move to promotion winning Luton Town for the current season. After 22 appearances as four goals, he has returned to the City Ground ahead of a loan move to another League One club for the remainder of the campaign.
