Leeds United offered the chance to sign Tottenham goalkeeper

Leeds United have been offered the chance to sign Tottenham’s Michel Vorm according to a report from Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay.

It’s well-known that Leeds have been trying to sign a new goalkeeper during the January transfer window with the fans being disappointed in the level of performances coming from current number one Bailey Peacock-Farrell. The club were initially trying to sign Karl Darlow from Newcastle United but that move appears to have broken down with the West Yorkshire club unwilling to pay the £4m valuation slapped onto him.

But as one deal ends, another one might be about to happen. It has now been revealed that Leeds have been offered the chance to sign another goalkeeper with Premier League experience. Hay explained on the podcast Inside Elland Road that Tottenham had approached Leeds saying that Vorm was available to sign. It is not clear if Leeds were interested but with the move for Darlow falling through, it may now be on the table.

Vorm had been a star goalkeeper for Swansea City when they were promoted to the Premier League but soon moved to Tottenham and spent his career at White Hart Lane being the understudy to Hugo Lloris. But now the Dutchman has been relegated to third choice and with Spurs reportedly paying over £60K a week for his services, they’d be happy to see him go. But even if Leeds are interested in signing him, they may not be able to pay those sort of wages in the Sky Bet Championship.
