Middlesbrough manager confirms up to three clubs interested in 23-year old forward

Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis confirmed that up to three clubs are interested in signing forward Ashley Fletcher.

Middlesbrough progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday after a 5-0 rout against League One side Peterborough United. Manager Tony Pulis spoke to the media in his post-match press conference and addressed the situation surrounding Ashley Fletcher’s future.

Fletcher has been attracting attention from fellow Championship side Hull City, but with Fletcher starting and scoring in the game against Peterborough he impressed the Boro boss, and now his future seems to be up in the air once more.

“I thought Fletcher played well in the first half too,” said Pulis.

“There were one or two who didn’t do as well in the first half, and got better in the second half, but I thought Fletch was one of our better players in the first half as well. I’m really pleased with him.”

“He’s just played a game for us and hopefully that will give him the confidence to move on,” he said.

But with Hull reportedly the only interested club in the forward, Tony Pulis confirmed that there is more than just the Tigers who are keen.

“There’s not just Hull that are interested, there are one or two other clubs as well. We’ll see what happens.”

Pulis remains tight-lipped on Fletcher’s future, but having impressed out wide in the FA Cup, the Welshman could give the striker a chance to impress in the league in this position before deciding whether to keep or sell.
