Oldham Athletic have signed French defensive midfielder Mohamad Sylla from Sannois-Saint-Gratien, confirmed by the club website.
Oldham Athletic have made their first signing of the January transfer window with the addition of French defensive midfielder Mohamad Sylla from Sannois-Saint-Gratien.
He has been assigned shirt number 42 and he is available to play in tomorrow’s Emirates FA Cup Third Round match against Fulham.
This is not the first time Oldham Athletic have look at talent in the French lower leagues under ownership of Abdallah Lemsagam, winger Johan Branger-Engone signed for Latics in the summer from Championnat National 2 side FC Dieppe.
Mohamed Sylla said this about joining Oldham Athletic: “I’m very pleased to be here and I hope to perform at my best for this club.”
“I’ve been around the club for a week now and I’ve been impressed by the fans from the game I watched against Notts County.”
“They’re really passionate in their support and I can’t wait to get out there to show everybody what I can do.”
“I like to be a shield in front of the defence, but I also like the role of going box-to-box, so hopefully I can contribute at both ends of the pitch.”
“It’s a strong physical league, I have to make sure I’m fit and raring to go and as soon as I get on the pitch you’ll see that I can cope with the demands of English football.”
