Ipswich Town Keane on Hull striker

Will Keane could end his two-and-a-half-year association with Hull City this month, with the Championship’s bottom side interested in the ex-Manchester United frontman according to the Hull Daily Mail.

The out-of-favour marksman has started only one game this season, with the likes of Fraizer Campbell, Chris Martin and Nouha Dicko preferred to Keane in the starting line-up.

Keane has seen his opportunities limited at the KCOM Stadium by persistent injury worries, which have seen him make just 26 appearances for The Tigers and score a solitary goal.

Ipswich manager Paul Lambert is desperate to add to his options up front, currently consisting of Freddie Sears and Kayden Jackson who have only nine between them all season.

Lambert’s side are the second lowest scorers in the division with 21 – only fellow strugglers Bolton Wanderers are below the Tractor Boys in goals scored.

Keane – brother of Everton and England defender Michael – is approaching his 26th birthday during the transfer window, but has only five league goals to his name.

The England youth international is thought to be keen on the idea of a move away from Hull, with perhaps a hint of optimism on the horizon at a new club, after the failed spell with The Tigers.

Keane has made just one start all season in the league, deputising for his fellow frontmen away at Elland Road, where he helped his side to an impressive win.

Ipswich are away in the FA Cup Third Round, against Accrington Stanley and if all goes well, Lambert can hope to have his new man available and hope he fires the club to safety.
