Leeds still keen on Toon keeper as Peacock-Farrell comes under fire

The debate is in full swing when it comes to the goalkeeping position at Leeds United. Baily Peacock-Farrell has come under fire for recent performances that have included some pretty standard goalkeeping errors. The jury is out, but Leeds are still keen on signing Newcastle United keeper Karl Darlow, according to the YEP.

Firstly on Darlow. Phil Hay has today confirmed Leeds are keen on the Newcastle United stopper but that depends on price. The idea that he wouldn’t come to sit on the bench is now very much just a theory with the form on Peacock-Farrell. It seems like Leeds would buy rather than loan but that’s also an option for the club, either way everyone seems to agree that we are in desperate need of a keeper, Hay confirming we definitely want one.

Baily Peacock-Farrell is having a bad time of things at the moment, no doubt about that. The young keeper has seen his competition in Jamal Blackman injured and since that day he does seem to have began to make more mistakes. He has made mistakes this season pre-Blackman injury but they have been much more common since and it has to be said even the most loyal of Peacock-Farrell fans have to question his recent form. Yes the defence haven’t been great, but that’s why a keeper is behind them.

For me Peacock-Farrell has potential, he started this season in good form but for what we need in this current situation he isn’t providing. If we were mid-table or even fighting for a play-off spot then you could accept some of the mistakes but we have the best chance of automatic promotion since we were relegated from the Premier League all them years ago and we need a keeper to be winning us points. The reaction of Pontus Jansson after the Mulgrew free-kick said a lot, screaming at his keeper in frustration.
