Sheffield Wednesday interested in Sweden international

Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly interested in AIK defender Alexander Milosevic, as per a report by the Yorkshire Post.

The 26-year-old is out-of-contract this month and could be handed a contract by the Championship side.

The Owls are currently manager-less after sacking Jos Luhukay in December. This hasn’t stopped transfer rumours regarding them with former Sunderland, Hull City and Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce expected to take charge soon.

Milosevic, who has five caps for Sweden to his name, could be one of Bruce’s first acquisitions at Hillsborough in the January transfer window.

The 6ft 4inc centre-back joined AIK in February 2018 and helped them win the Allsvenskan in 2018.

Milosevic started his career in his native Sweden with spells at Rissne IF and Vasalunds IF before first joining AIK in 2011. He spent three years at the ‘Friends Arena’ and played just under 100 games.

Turkish giants Besiktas swooped to sign him in January 2015 for a fee of around €1 million but he never managed to nail down a regular starting spot there. Instead, Milosevic enjoyed loan spells at German sides Hannover 96 and SV Darmstadt as well as fellow Turkish top flight outfit Çaykur Rizespor.

Milosevic was then allowed to leave Besiktas in February last year but is now set to be on the move once again. He has played a decent level throughout his career and is an international defender so could be worth a gamble by Sheffield Wednesday.
