Sheffield United have signed Everton’s Kieran Dowell on loan, as confirmed by their official club website.
Dowell, who is 21 years-old, has been allowed to leave Premier League side Everton on loan to gain some more first-team experience.
He has played twice for the Blues this season with both appearances coming in the EFL Cup for Marco Silva’s side.
The Ormskirk-born midfielder joined Everton at the age of nine and rose through the youth ranks at Goodison Park. He made his debut in August 2014 in a Europa League fixture against FC Krasnador.
He spent last season on loan in the Championship with Nottingham Forest and impressed for the Reds. He played 43 games in all competitions and scored 10 goals.
Sheffield United will be hopeful he can rekindle that type of form for the remainder of this campaign, should they be able to get the deal over the line next month. Chris Wilder’s side are currently 4th in the league.
The Blades’ boss has said: “He’s a talented player, left-footed, brings a balance to the group and gives us competition at the top of the pitch”.
“We’re looking for him to replicate what he did at Forest and hopefully a little bit more, we feel Kieran will add goals and assists to the group. He knows the division and he’s been a regular in a really talented England U21 group”.
