Two players that David Hopkin should get rid of in January for Bradford City

It’s no secret that the start of 2018/19 season hasn’t gone to plan for the Bantams, but things are starting to look more positive since the arrival of David Hopkin.

David Hopkin has replaced Michael Collins, who was sacked on Monday after six games in charge, he left Bradford City 17th in League One.

He is no stranger to the club as he had a short spell as a player with Bradford City during the 2000-01 season and remains their record signing, having joined the club from Leeds United for £2.5m.

At the weekend, Rotherham loanee David Ball scored two goals in nine second-half minutes as the Bantams move off the bottom of the table with a 4-0 win against Walsall at Valley Parade. This was only the Bantams’ fifth win of the season.

Here are two players that David Hopkin should get rid of in January for Bradford City –

Jake Reeves, midfielder – The central midfielder arrived at the Northern Commercials Stadium in early July 2017 on a three-year deal having signed from AFC Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee, but he still yet to make an impact at club. The Bantams already have numerous midfielder such as Lewis O’Brien, Hope Akpan, Josh Wright and Karl Henry, so if Jake Reeves departs the club it would have a huge impact. If David Hopkin gets rid of the ex-Tottenham Hotspur man, this will allow him to dip into the transfer market and improve area of the side that are lacking.

Nathaniel Knight-Percival, defender – The former Shrewsbury Town captain, Nathaniel Knight-Percival joined Bradford City in the summer of 2016. A ball playing left sided defender but has found the physical aspect of League One tough this campaign. David Hopkin should get rid of the defender, which will free up money for him to bring in a quality and established defender to help keep Bradford City in the division.
