Derby County targeting Scottish Premier League midfielder

Derby County are targeting a January swoop for Dundee midfielder Glen Kamara, according to Derbyshire Live.

The Rams were linked with the 23-year-old over the summer and could now move for him next month.

Kamara, who has also been a previous target for League One side Sunderland, Swansea City and Rangers, is out of contract at Dundee at the end of the season meaning they could cash in on him in January to avoid losing him on a free transfer.

Derby are currently 5th in the Championship and seven points off the automatic promotion places. Their boss, Frank Lampard, is keen to further bolster his side with a couple of signings to help boost his sides’ promotion charge.

The potential signing of Kamara would offer his side some more depth in midfield which is crucial and could also mean the end for out of favour midfielders like Bradley Johnson and Jacob Butterfield, who could both be free to leave Pride Park.

Kamara started his career at Southend United but was signed by Arsenal in 2012. He made his senior debut for the Gunners in a League Cup fixture away to Sheffield Wednesday in October 2015.

He then enjoyed loan spells at Southend and Colchester United where he obtained first-team experience. Kamara left Arsenal on a permanent basis last year to join Dundee and has since established himself as one of their key players.

Kamara is also now a Finland international and has made seven caps. He also previously represented his country at Under-19 and Under-21 level as a youngster.
