Wycombe’s injury issues have eased for another week with the news that Stephen Henderson will extend his stay at Adams Park after an impressive debut, report the Nottingham Post
The 30 year-old stopper made his debut in last Saturday’s impressive win over promotion chasing Barnsley with Randell Williams’ goal securing three points for Wanderers.
Henderson is embarking on his 11th loan spell at his ninth different club having found himself out of favour in the Championship with Nottingham Forest, having joined the club in 2016 from Charlton Athletic.
The former Republic of Ireland U21 International is covering for the injured duo of Ryan Allsopp and Yves Ma-Kalambay, with Scotsman Cameron Yates occupying the bench.
Henderson is not the first emergency stopper that the Chairboys have used. QPR’s Matt Ingram made a return to the club before forgotten Birmingham City stopper David Stockdale filled in.
Manager Gareth Ainsworth said: “Stephen did extremely well on his début for us and it was a no-brainer for us to secure another seven-day loan for him.
“Ryan and Yves are making good progress in their recoveries from injury but they’re still a little while off returning to the team” he added.
Ainsworth’s side are unbeaten in five and find themselves four points outside the top six, having been promoted from the fourth tier just last season.
Their’s and Henderson’s next game will be this Saturday when they make the trip to Gillingham.
The Wycombe boss has received plenty of plaudits for his six years in charge of the club and has been linked with the vacant Reading post following Paul Clement’s dismissal last week.
