Bristol City coach reveals interest from Manchester United in 18-year-old attacker

Bristol City’s player loan manager Brian Tinnion has revealed that no other than Premier League giants Manchester United are interested in The Robins’ 18-year-old striker Antoine Semenyo.

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Bristol City’s young striker Antoine Semenyo, the club’s player loan manager Brian Tinnion has revealed.

Tinnion spoke to Bristol Live regarding the interest, admitting that The Red Devils are interested in the young striker.

“I was sat with a Man United scout at Newport the other week, to be honest, and they really like him,” Tinnion said.

“People will like him because he’s 18 years of age. We’ve got a lot of talent, there’s eight out on loan in the League at the minute and then probably 12 below the (football) league.

“The ones outside the League at the minute, there’s probably three or four who, in January, will be wanting to go into the League.

“So we could have 12 young academy players playing in the League by January, which is fantastic.”

Tinnion admitted that Manchester United have been to scout the youngster during his loan spell at League Two side Newport County, where he has been catching the eye of scouts. Semenyo doesn’t boast the best goalscoring record, picking up five goals in 24 appearances for the Welsh side, also assisting two goals along the way.

However, the youngster’s qualities are catching the eye, and at just 18 years old, some of the Premier League’s biggest sides are registering an interest in the youngster.

Femenyo made his professional debut for Bristol City on the final day of the 2017/18 Championship season. The youngster came on as a second half substitute in The Robins’ loss 3-2 loss to Sheffield United.
