Middlesbrough face Preston North End in the Championship this evening, with both teams on long unbeaten runs.
Here is the predicted Middlesbrough XI for the trip to Deepdale:
GK – Darren Randolph
Boro’s ‘keeper has kept the most clean sheets in the Football League and has the highest save percentage of any Championship shotstopper so far this season.
RB – Dael Fry
Fry has been a revelation at right-back in the absence of Ryan Shotton, and will keep his place after a good display away at Brentford at the weekend.
CB – Aden Flint
The £7m summer signing has been reliable as ever this season, and it speaks volumes he is ahead of Dani Ayala in the pecking order.
CB – Dani Ayala
Danny Batth has come in and done fantastically well, but there could be changes in the side that played at Brentford. Ayala could come in for Batth here.
LB – George Friend
Many thought Friend was going off the boil this season, but in the past few weeks he has been back to his brilliant best.
CM – Muhamed Besic
Besic came off at Griffin Park on Saturday in the second-half and will surely start at Deepdale.
CM – Adam Clayton
When Middlesbrough rotated and left Clayton out of the side against Nottingham Forest at home, the game ended in a 2-0 defeat, showing if he is fit he must play.
CM – George Saville
After a three day turnaround since the game on Saturday night, I expect Pulis to rotate in a couple of areas, with Saville coming in for Jonny Howson.
RW – Stewart Downing
Despite Downing’s age he can play multiple games a week, and has showed his class throughout this season already.
ST – Jordan Hugill
Hugill should keep his place ahead of Britt Assombalonga, after scoring his third in two games against Brentford. He will want to start the game against his former side.
LW – Martin Braithwaite
Although Marcus Tavernier played brilliantly in the last game, Braithwaite is first choice, and missed out due to playing two games last week out on international duty.
