Premier League giants lining up shock £15m move for Brentford’s young star

Premier League giants Arsenal are considering a surprise move for Brentford’s starlet Ezri Konsa, according to The Sun.

Premier League side Arsenal have been scouting Brentford’s centre back Ezri Konsa, and think he’s ready to make the step up to the Premier League. The Gunners are ready to offer up to £15m for the youngster, despite only joining The Bees in the summer transfer window.

The defender made the move over from fellow London side Charlton Athletic in June for a reported fee of nearly £3m on a three year deal with the option of a further year available. However, his stay at Griffin Park could come to an end in January with the Premier League calling.

Konsa made his breakthrough in the 2016/17 League One season with Charlton Athletic, making 39 appearances for The Addicks after relegation from the Championship in the season before. The England youngster maintained his place in the side, making 47 appearances in all competitions as Charlton made the Play-Offs, ultimately falling in the Semi-Finals against Shrewsbury Town.

Konsa has also become a mainstay in the England youth sides, coming into the Under-20s side last year, making five appearances. The 21-year-old has gone on to make a further five appearances for the Under-21s side, picking up one goal for Aidy Boothroyd’s side.

The defender is thought to be on the radar of Unai Emery’s side, as he looks to bring in some young talent to build for the long term at the Emirates Stadium. However, Brentford will be unlikely to let Konsa leave on the cheap, and may have to pay over the reported £15m to seal the youngster’s signature.
