Blackburn Rovers star Elliott Bennett has penned a new contract, running through to June 2021, the club announced this morning.
Blackburn Rovers’ versatile man Elliott Bennett has become the latest key player to commit their long term future to Rovers this season, signing an extension, taking Bennett’s stay at Ewood Park through to 2021.
Captain Charlie Mulgrew signed a contract extension only yesterday, and is now joined by Bennett on the long list of first team players to commit their futures to Rovers. Bradley Dack, Richie Smallwood, Darragh Lenihan and Derrick Williams all signed deals in the summer to extend their stay at the Championship club, as Tony Mowbray looks to build for the future at Ewood Park.
Since joining from Norwich City in 2016, the 29-year-old has made 115 appearances for Rovers. Though naturally a right midfielder, Bennett has filled in at a variety of positions, playing in centre midfield and right back this season. He also volunteered to step in between the sticks when ‘keeper David Raya was stretchered off versus West Brom, before Richie Smallwood took the gloves and saw out the rest of the game.
