Championship Betting: Winners, Relegation and Top Goalscorers

The Championship is starting to heat up as teams battle it out at the top of the table for promotion to the Premier League whilst those at the bottom compete to avoid the dreaded drop to League One. Just six points separate 6th place Derby County from Sheffield Wednesday in 17th, making this division impossible to predict. Here are some odds for Championship betting.

Outright Winners

Leeds United are still considered genuine title contenders despite their 4-1 hammering away to West Bromwich Albion last Saturday. The Whites are 9/2 to win the Championship under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa.

West Brom are 5/1 to win it. Darren Moore’s side have been inconsistent this season but have got some quality players such as Jay Rodriguez and Harvey Barnes. The Baggies are just five points off the top now.

Norwich City are the current league leaders and are being tipped for the title at 11/2. Nobody can stop them at the moment and they are on top form under Daniel Farke. Since the end of August, only three teams in Europe have had a better record than the Canaries.

Middlesbrough are being backed at 6/1. Tony Pulis knows how to grind out wins in this league. Sheffield United, who have led the way for a while this season before being leap frogged by Norwich, are 13/2. Chris Wilder’s side have been very impressive so far in this campaign.

Finally, Frank Lampard’s Derby County are 11/1 to win the title. The Rams are currently in 6th place and five points of the top.

Relegated

Ipswich Town have endured a horrendous start to the season and are odds-on favourites for relegation at ½. Their fans will be hoping new manager Paul Lambert can save them from the drop.

Bolton Wanderers are then also odds-on as they are sliding down the league table. Rotherham United and Reading then follow on at evens and 11/10 respectively.

Hull City are 5/2. The Tigers are currently in the bottom three but have hit some form and look to be steering themselves away from danger.

Top Goalscorer

Brentford’s Neal Maupay is the Championship top scorer so far this season with 12 goals and he is being tipped at 3/1 to win the Golden Boot. There were worries amongst the Bees’ camp when the French striker went down injured against QPR at the weekend but Football.London have reported he could back after the international break.

West Brom striker Dwight Gayle, who is on loan from Newcastle United, is 5/1. He has scored nine so far but got 23 the last time he played a full season in the Championship.

The experienced Billy Sharp is the third favourite for top scorer. The Blades’ forward has bagged 10 thus far and knows how to find the back of the net at this level. Norwich’s Teemu Pukki and West Brom’s Jay Rodriguez then both follow at 11/1.

Birmingham City’s Lukas Jutkiewicz has impressed in front of goal for Garry Monk’s side and is a good bet for top scorer at 14/1. He has managed nine so far but looks very sharp and won the Championship Player of the Month for October, as reported by Sky Sports.
