Bury manager Ryan Lowe has expressed his delight at the fact that his side will not be making the headlines for the wrong reasons after they avoided a giant-killing in the Emirates FA Cup first round.
The Shakers beat non-league Dover Athletic 5-0 at the Energy Check Stadium at Gigg Lane in a game which saw them race into a three-goal lead in a little over half an hour.
Speaking to The72 in the post-match press conference, Lowe admitted that he is pleased that he won’t be seeing his side make the back of the Sunday newspapers this weekend.
“There have been a couple of upsets today and I am just happy that it wasn’t us” the Bury boss confessed.
“I’m happy that the lads were respectful to the opposition, they’ve done their jobs and it has paid off.
“It is about us, it’s about what we are doing and that’s how I want to try and keep it.”
Bury were impressive throughout with some slick attacking play complimented by some solid defending and The Shakers boss was pleased with the all-round performance from his side.
Lowe added “You can’t sit back and invite pressure.
“We’ve done that earlier in the season but what we’ve done is made this group a different animal with controlling and how we want it.
“We want to take the ball forward and play in the final third and that’s what we will continue to do.”
Four different players got their names on the scoresheet for The Shakers against Dover Athletic and that was something which pleased their manager.
“It is nice to score goals” said Lowe. “The more goals you score, the more chance you have of winning.
“We won’t always score threes, fours or fives but when the fours and fives come along I am certainly happy.
“We also got the clean sheet which was pleasing.”
The large victory against Dover Athletic saw Bury score four or more goals for the fourth time this season while they have now netted nine in their last two games.
