The top five of the Championship table are separated by just two points, with a new team topping the table at the end of every week seemingly. Leeds United, Norwich City, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and Derby County are the top five as it stands, and all will fancy their chances of automatic promotion.
However, the chasing pack are remaining well and truly in touch, and Tony Mowbray’s Blackburn Rovers are well within the pack. Nottingham Forest and West Brom sit on 26 and 25 points respectively, and Rovers sit tied with The Baggies on 25 points after 16 games.
Of the top eight sides, Blackburn Rovers are going under the radar, with the other seven sides all being widely considered as promotion candidates.
Rovers attacker Adam Armstrong is more than happy to part of a side not widely considered to be serious contenders, and thinks it suits the club.
“We have had a good start,” the former Newcastle United striker told the Lancashire Telegraph.
“We knew it was going to be a tough season and we have had a tough start but I think we have done brilliantly and to be eighth is really good and we want to keep on pushing every week.”
“I think that is the best way. No-one is really talking about us.
“We know how good we are and we know how good the staff are that we work with and we are just training hard every day and performing on Saturdays.”
Armstrong went on to discuss the Championship table, and how the tight table can benefit Rovers.
“I think you have seen in this league that anyone can beat anyone.
“There is not a minute where we think we should be beating any team but we do go into games confident.
“We have had a tough run with the likes of Villa, Derby, Leeds and Stoke but for us to be sitting eighth after all those games then why can’t we push on now?”
