Barnsley earned another important three points yesterday by beating Southend United 1-0 at Oakwell in a game covered by The72. Here are five things we learned from the game-
Barnsley can grind out wins- The Tykes have won their last two games 1-0 now after beating Bristol Rovers by the same scoreline last time out. You need to be able to find ways to win games if you are to get promoted and Barnsley have proven that they can do this.
Home fans need to be patient- The Oakwell faithful were getting restless as the game went on yesterday. Teams are going to go there and sit back so they need to be patient and stick with their side. Eventually Daniel Stendel’s side found a way to win in the 86th minute and the quality in the squad will shine through in the end on most occasions.
Kieffer Moore is important- He is Barnsley’s top scorer this season and his aerial threat gave his side the three points yesterday. Moore is a proven striker at this level and if he is kept fit for the whole season, the Tykes will be amongst those in contention for an automatic promotion place.

Southend are a good side- Chris Powell’s side played well and look a solid team. They had the better of the opening stages of the game and could have easily taken the lead in the first-half. They will feel that they were well worthy of a draw yesterday.
Dru Yearwood is one for future- The 18-year-old had a very impressive game in the middle of the park for Southend. He looks to be a promising talent and you can see why he has being talked about at the moment.
